What is HR 218 (LEOSA)?
HR 218, also known as the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA), is a federal law that allows qualified retired law enforcement officers to carry a concealed firearm nationwide, as long as they meet certain requirements—like annual firearms requalification.
Who qualifies for HR 218 requalification?
- Be a retired law enforcement officer
- Have separated in good standing
- Possess a photographic ID issued by your former agency
- Complete a firearms qualification within the past 12 months
What do I need to bring to qualify?
- Your retired LEO ID card
- A valid photo ID (driver’s license)
- Payment of $99.99
- Your own firearm and ammunition
What is the course of fire?
We follow a standard qualification using a B-21E target:
- 38 rounds total
- Passing score: 33 hits minimum
- Shooting includes varied distances and timed drills to reflect real-world conditions
How long does the qualification take?
Plan for about 45–60 minutes, including safety briefing, shooting, scoring, and documentation.
When is the course offered?
We run weekly sessions:
- Tuesdays at 6 PM
- Thursdays at 8 AM & 6 PM
- Sundays at 5 PM
Do I get documentation to show I passed?
Yes. You'll receive official proof of requalification to keep with your LEOSA ID.
Does this let me carry in every state?
LEOSA allows you to carry across state lines, but some state and local restrictions still apply (e.g., federal buildings, schools, private property rules). Always check local laws before you travel.
